I got into a pointless Twitter fight once where my interlocutor insisted that the US would win in a war against China and cited our hardware supremacy, and I found it incredibly obtuse. Hardware is definitely an important factor in war! But there's more to it than just counting up the number of pieces on each side like a game of Risk.
